Work Experience
What is Day to Work?
Day to Work is our annual work experience scheme held on Inset Days.
Students spend the day with a parent or trusted adult at their workplace.
They observe real working practices and experience environments they would not normally see in school. It is offered to all year groups on all of our Inset Days
Why Day to Work Matters
Day to Work helps students:
- Understand how classroom skills to real jobs such as communication, teamwork and punctuality
- See what different workplaces are like
- Explore whether a career idea feels right
- Get a “taster” of an industry they are curious about
It is a valuable introduction to work‑related learning and helps students begin thinking about their future pathways.
The Student Handbook
All students complete a Day to Work Handbook.
It helps them:
- Record and reflect what they learned
- Consider whether it changed or confirmed their career ideas
- Identify skills they used or observed
- Think about qualifications and further training routes
